Chapter One (Or Prologue)

So.. about Willow…. The Haunted One….

Willow is a young female wolf who was a part of the Eclipse Pack in Slough Creek.

She has this spirit that has been tormenting her in her mind who claims to be Willow’s cousin who is also named Willow. Her pack thought she was crazy.

The living Willow consulted with her aunt Nova and that was when she learned about her lost cousin, Nova’s lost daughter.

In hopes to regain control of herself, Willow left Slough Creek and unknownst to herself ended up in Lost River with the spirit still tormenting her.

The live Willow hopes to be rid of her dead cousin who now is christened ‘the burden’ by Willow (she never says ‘the burden’ when she’s talking to her spirit but calls her ‘cousin’), and to never have a spirit and anybody for that matter control her choices, and her life… again.

Chapter Two

Willow’s Dream

Willow found herself in a meadow with a sky quilted with stars.

“This must be the spirit realm!” Willow exclaimed in awe.

Just then a wolf’s shape comes into view,it is smaller, the size of a juvenile pup, but by the scent Willow knows it’s her cousin, ‘the burden.’

“Ah! Cousin!” the dead Willow speaks.

Willow makes no move towards her. “Why should I trust her?!” she thought.

“How did you get into my mind, spirit body and all?” Willow asked.

The dead Willow chuckled as if it was a joke. “Oh no! I still reside in the spirit realm, but my voice has a way of speaking to you through your mind, one that no one else could hear, that’s why no one believed you, well Nova I guess,” the spirit replies, only answering the first part of Willow’s question.

“You answered only the first part of my question!” Willow growled.

“When I died, I still wanted to make my mark on the world and the other pups’ minds were impossible to enter, they were.. Private but I could easily enter yours!” the spirit Willow said.

“So basically your idea of ‘making your mark’ is tormenting me into doing what you want?!” Willow growled.

“You’re missing the point!” the spirit groaned. “I came to help you!”

“Yeah well you aren’t! GO AWAY!!!” Willow barked.

‘‘Good luck with that. Because I will ALWAYS be part of  you, ALWAYS!!” the dead Willow glared at the living Willow.

Willow watched the spirit walk away and saw the stars around her fade.

Willow woke up not knowing if what had happened was a dream. But the spirit’s voice rang in her ears, “I will always be a part of you, ALWAYS!”

Chapter 3

The Graveyard Ritual

Willow continued down the rocky slope towards the town. She was taught by her father, Teau, that when he lived there, there was a graveyard. Her aunt Nova (as superstitious as she was) taught Willow a ritual that would help regain control of yourself and to be rid of any spirits that were haunting you.

Willow stood over the ledge that overlooked the cemetery. She decided to look at each tombstone to find which ones that died as an infant or a young kid, because the dead Willow was only six months old when she died.

Once Willow found the tombstones of kids, which were located at the back of the cemetery, she howled three times. Willow vaguely remembered the poem that Nova taught her.

“Skaarsgard, wolf of the  stars, I have been feeling a spirit in my mind. I ask of you, to please at least give me some control back? Thank you.”

Now Willow had to sit vigil all night in front of her tombstone.

Willow traveled away from the Graveyard, relaxed and exhausted.

“Hopefully I’ll have more control over my mind.”
