Hello! Hello! Today’s topic is going to be about how the wolves of Chernobyl have a resistance to cancer!
In April of 1986, was when the Chernobyl disaster took place, forcing hundreds of thousands of people to abandon their homes. When the humans left, the wildlife started to repopulate Chernobyl. Dogs that were left behind by their owners also inhabit Chernobyl.
The wolves were exposed to radioactive waste and developed a higher cancer resistance than other populations. Blood testing of the wolves showed that their genome was diverging than in other populations.
It was likely that the wolves’ radioactive exposure led to their resistance to cancer.
Wolves living in Chernobyl don’t have actual immunity to cancer, it’s just when they get it, cancer seems to do less damage than the wolves outside of Chernobyl.
The wolves were exposed to doses of radiation that humans could not handle.
The wolves of Chernobyl are now six times larger population than in 1986.
Thank you for reading this post have a great day!! AWOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
